Organic foods are foods produced by organic farming methods. Industry approved standards differ from country to country.

Farming practises in organic industry generally features cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that promotes reuse of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity.

Usually, synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers are not allowed, although certain organically approved pesticides may be used under limited conditions. 

Due to the nature of organic farming, food produced under this method is usually valuable and quite expensive.

While the cost of growing organic vegetables in Singapore has fallen over the years, many people are turning to small scale growing of organic vegetables right at home.

It is not just cost savings, but fun and a good social activity for the family members.
