Seeds without fungicides

You can choose potting soil that’s made for growing vegetables, try not to use soil from your garden, or re-use potting soil for your houseplants. Start it with fresh soil and mix that will ensure healthy and disease-free seedlings. In our classes, we will also teach you how to recognise good quality soil.

Garden soil and garden supplies sold in Singapore are often having a clayey texture. They are not ideal for growing most leafy vegetables

Use of chemical fungicides are not permitted on organic farms. We do not use them at The Living Centre and we do not support the use chemical fungicides due to many research studies that shows its negative impact on the ecosystem.

Some herbs can germinate within 3 to 5 days. Some will take a few weeks to few months. We will teach you in our Grow Herbs class in more details.

Fruiting Vegetables that tends to thrive better in Singapore weather are

• Watermelon
• Rockmelon

Other fruits need more skills such as Tomatoes, Strawberries

Most seeds are rich in protein, healthy fats, fiber, minerals. But it will be more fun to grow them into mature plants to harvest

Seeds, once derived from mother plants, must be kept in good storage conditions before being distributed to growers. At The Living Centre, we have strict storage conditions and seeds that we sold are high quality for germination.

• Many leafy vegetables can be grown from seed, such as cabbage, lettuce, Pak Choi, Spinach, Bayam, Chard, Rocket Salad, etc

Good soil for growing seedlings should have ability to retain water, good aeration and drainage. In our classes, we will teach these in details

Watering frequency is dependant on soil type, wind and heat conditions. Most of the time, general rule of thumb is to water at least once a day. But in our classes, we will teach you more specifically on what factors to observed when it comes to watering requirements.

As The Living Centre is an advocate for organic farming methods, we do not support the use of chemical fungicides. There are many research studies that shows its impact on the ecosystem on planet earth.

Most leafy vegetable seeds will germinate from 3 to 5 days. But some other seeds will take a few weeks up to a few months. In our seed packets, we will indicate the average days to germination. In our classes, we will also teach you more techniques on germination of seeds.
